Over the years, we've put Samuel L. Jackson's face with more iconic names then we can count. The 70-year-old actor is arguably one of the most influential and prolific actors of our time. We certainly all have our favorite roles of Jackson's, but what are his own career highlights?

When the actor recently dropped in to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Fallon asked Samuel L. Jackson to name the top five characters he's played. Since he has well over 100 acting credits to date, he found narrowing it down to be tough, but his favorites are interesting!

At No. 5 is Nick Fury, a character Samuel L. Jackson has played since the MCU began with the Iron Man post-credit scene in 2008, teasing the formation of the Avengers. Fury doesn't typically play a large role in the movies, but the upcoming Captain Marvel will delve into his past before the eye-patch and he'll be teaming up with Spidey in Spider-Man: Far From Home too.

Then, Jackson decided to group together Quentin Tarantino characters Ordell from Jackie Brown, Jules from Pulp Fiction and Stephen from Django Unchained for the fourth spot because "he'd hate to pull them apart." It looks like picking his favorite roles is like picking a favorite child, especially as far as it goes with his work with the film director who he's collaborated with since the early '90s.

Topping his favorite Quentin characters is Mace Windu from the Star Wars prequels because... well, he's a Jedi! The trilogy of Star Wars films he was involved with may not be beloved by all, but few can argue with how cool it was that Jackson is part of the universe. The actor has also made it clear in the past that he's interested to reprise his role in a future Star Wars movie, even though his character died. Maybe in the planned Obi Wan spinoff?

Then, Samuel L. Jackson just skipped a No. 2 spot-earner right to his favorite role of all time... Mitch Henessey in the 1996 film The Long Kiss Goodnight. He loved playing the wacky private detective "crazy dude" and had a blast working with Geena Davis on it.

Okay, so Mitch Henessey's certainly not a role everyone knows Samuel L. Jackson for and it likely won't go down in history as the other characters he named, but the fact that it's his undisputed top pick 23 years later shows it was a memorable and fun experience that he treasures. So check it out!

How The DCEU Might Be Planning To Introduce Batgirl

Of the numerous movies in development for the DC Extended Universe, a fair number of them are connected to the Batman mythos, including Batgirl. So far Barbara Gordon has only appeared in one live action movie, 1997's Batman & Robin, and I don't need to tell you how that movie was received. So it's safe to say that a Batgirl movie would likely provide a much better representation of the character, and with the superhero movie genre more popular than ever, now's a great time to finally shine the spotlight on the heroine. However, rumor has it that before she headlines a standalone adventure, Batgirl will be introduced to the DCEU in Birds of Prey.

Earlier today, it was reported that Cathy Yan is in talks to direct the Birds of Prey movie, which was announced in November 2016, written by Christina Hodson and will either start shooting late this year and early next year. According to Variety writer Justin Kroll, the reason that DC and Warner Bros want to fast-track Birds of Prey over Suicide Squad 2 (which was previously rumored to begin production in the latter half of 2018) isn't just because of Hodson's script, but because they're interested in bringing in Batgirl sooner rather than later. It's similar to how T'Challa, a.k.a. Black Panther, was introduced to the MCU in Captain America: Civil War and then starred in the Black Panther movie almost two full years later.

It's worth taking this information with a grain of salt, but if Birds of Prey does officially enter production sometime within the next 12 months, then it would make sense to feature Batgirl in it. Along with being one of Batman's most trusted allies in Gotham City, whether she's suited up as Batgirl or behind a computer screen as Oracle, Barbara Gordon is also one of the founding members of the Birds of Prey, with Black Canary and Huntress rounding out the main trio. Batgirl is popular enough that a lot of people unfamiliar with the comics are probably aware of her existence, but it would be interesting for see her fighting alongside other heroines for her first DCEU appearance. Once that introduction is out of the way, then we can follow along with Barbara Gordon as she battles the forces of evil on her own.

No plot details for Birds of Prey have but it will also feature Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, though it's unclear if Joker's squeeze will work with the starring heroes or team up with them. As for Batgirl, her standalone movie was announced in March of 2017, and originally Joss Whedon was attached to write and direct. However, after a year, Whedon was unable to formulate a good story, so he departed the project. Christina Hodson is now writing a new Batgirl script, but a replacement director hasn't been found yet.

Whats Going On With The Soul Stone In The MCU?

The Avengers established that Thanos would be the overarching antagonist of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it wasn't until Thor: The Dark World confirmed that the objects that his comic book counterpart craves, the Infinity Stones, also exist in this continuity. As of Doctor Strange, five Infinity Stones are accounted for, leaving the Soul Stone as the only one of these ancient, powerful artifacts that hasn't been officially introduced yet. For a while, it was speculated that the Soul Stone might show up in Thor: Ragnarok, and when that didn't happen, some believed that we might see the orange rock in Black Panther. Well, T'Challa's standalone movie finally hit theaters this weekend, and while it's established itself as a critical and commercial powerhouse, one thing it does lack is an Infinity Stone. So with three months to go until Avengers: Infinity War, unquestionably Marvel's biggest movie yet, the question remains, just what's going on with the Soul Stone?

Because Avengers: Infinity War will follow Thanos trying to obtain the six Infinity Stones so he can become the most powerful being in the universe, one would imagine that we'll see the Soul Stone in the movie, even if Thanos doesn't get his hands on all of them. After all, although Infinity War and Avengers 4 will still be closely connected, they're considered to be two "distinct" movies, so we can't assume that Avengers 4 will keep focusing on the Mad Titan's quest for invincibility. In any case, it's possible that Thanos has possessed the Soul Stone this entire time.

When it was revealed in Avengers: Age of Ultron that Loki's scepter contained the Mind Stone, many appropriately pointed out that Thanos loaning the Asgardian God of Mischief an Infinity Stone was a weird decision, even if the endgame was to retrieve another Infinity Stone. But if Thanos already had the Soul Stone sitting in his vault or junk drawer, then at least by losing the Mind Stone, he wouldn't be entirely without Infinity Stones, so giving it to Loki would have been more of a calculated risk. Admittedly, the Infinity War trailer only showed the Mad Titan with the Space and Power Stones in the Infinity Gauntlet, but perhaps he has it tucked away elsewhere and will only join it with its "siblings" when he gets the Mind, Reality and Time Stones.

However, even though Black Panther didn't show the Soul Stone, we shouldn't rule out that it's in Wakanda. The Avengers: Infinity War trailer showed that the technologically-advanced African nation will be the site of one of the movie's big battles, with T'Challa, his Avenger allies and Wakanda's finest warriors engaging Thanos' monstrous hordes. Publicly, vibranium is Wakanda's most prized resource, and now the whole world knows it thanks to T'Challa deciding to reveal his country's true nature to the rest of the world. But perhaps the Soul Stone is something that only a select few in the Wakandan government know about.

As shown twice in Black Panther, when an individual inherits the Wakandan throne, they take the Heart-Shaped Herb to gain enhanced physical abilities and go on a journey to the spirit realm, where they can communicate with the dead. While not directly confirmed in Black Panther, if these visions are anything like they are in the comics, then T'Challa, Killmonger and the past Wakandan monarchs were actually speaking with spirits rather than just hallucinating. So in the MCU, it's not implausible that the Soul Stone is responsible for this supernatural experience, and hence why Thanos has sent his army to attack Wakanda.

Of course, these are just two of the theories floating around concerning the Soul Stone's location. Despite its absence from Thor: Ragnarok, some are still speculating that the Soul Stone resides within Heimdall and is the reason the Asgardian can see across the Nine Realms. Maybe Avengers: Infinity War will show Thanos finding it on a world we haven't visited in the MCU yet. It's even possible that the Soul Stone was moved to a different reality at some point, like the Quantum Realm or the Dark Dimension. Wherever it is, with Avengers: Infinity War bringing the Infinity Stones arc to a head, and Phase Three wrapping up next year with Avengers 4, we're going to going to see the Soul Stone very soon, and it will be nice to finally see what this particular Stone is capable of doing in the MCU.

With Black Panther now screening for the masses, Avengers: Infinity War is the next MCU movie up, hitting theaters on May 4.
