Ahead Of Episode IX Mark Hamill Is Lobbying To Get Carrie Fisher A Hollywood Star

It has been two years since Carrie Fisher passed away, and yet her absence is still being felt. She's still a part of a major franchise that is still producing new movies. Now, with Star Wars: Episode IX coming down the pipeline Mark Hamill is on a mission to get Carrie Fisher her own Hollywood Star.

He's on a mission from God. Wait, wrong movie franchise. Regardless, Mark Hamill is really hoping that Carrie Fisher will get her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which has been a right of passage for a lot of major names in the entertainment business. Luckily, the actress already has a street named after her, but per Hamill, it really isn't enough.

Mark Hamill also took to Twitter to rally the fans around the idea, noting that when a star is awarded after a star has passed away, that generally the committee will wait five years. Still, speaking out generally won't hurt...

Carrie WILL get her well-deserved Star on the Walk of Fame, it's only a matter of when. The rule is a 5-year wait when awarded posthumously. A letter to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce wouldn't hurt, urging them to time it to the release of Ep IX.

Hamill himself got his own Hollywood star earlier this year. Both George Lucas and Harrison Ford attended that ceremony and it seemed to be a momentous occasion for the Star Wars: The Last Jedi and The Flash actor, and Mark Hamill even recalled the time he met Harrison Ford during the course of the events that day.

Still, it was notable that even that day was missing Carrie Fisher, who passed away at the age of 60 back in 2016. The actress was rushed to the hospital after suffering a heart attack on an airplane and passed away a short time later. She left behind a daughter, Billie Lourd, who appears in the new Star Wars franchise films and has paid tribute to her mother numerous times since her death.

Mark Hamill has also been a constant source for remembrances of Carrie Fisher, sharing tributes for the actress online and making sure Carrie Fisher remains in the minds of the fans. Those have ranged from general tributes to reactions regarding upcoming Carrie Fisher Star Wars news, including the one, below.

Of course, fans still have a lot of love for Carrie Fisher and it would make sense for the actress to get a Hollywood star, although we'll have to wait and see if the general five-year time limit still ends up standing, despite this recent interest. As Mark Hamill says, if this is an issue near and dear to your heart, it probably won't hurt to speak up about it.

You'll be able to see Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher back on the big screen one more time with Star Wars Episode IX, a film that still hasn't been officially titled, yet. We learned a few months ago that the production would be taking some footage Carrie Fisher filmed for other movies and incorporating it into the new flick in order to finish out her storyline in a way that makes sense. Billy Dee Williams will also be rejoining the franchise for the final film in the new trilogy.

Tim Allen Warned Tom Hanks About Toy Story 4's Emotional Ending

At this point, it is basically a given that Pixar movies are going to make you cry. The tear-jerking nature of these films is so well established that a box of tissues could replace Luxo Jr. as the companys mascot. This holds especially true for Pixars Toy Story franchise, and I think most of us expected this summers Toy Story 4 to continue this trend, but it may be even worse than we feared.

Toy Story 4s voice actors didnt record their dialogue together at the same time, so some actors got to the end before their co-stars. That resulted in Buzz Lightyear actor Tim Allen actually warning Tom Hanks about the films emotional ending, as the Woody actor explained:

This is the end of the series and I had gotten some texts from Tim Allen. These texts that say, Have you recorded yet? Have you been in? Have you had a session yet? I said, 'No, not yet. [Allen says] Wait until you see those last pages. Tough one, tough one.

That, folks, is not a good sign if you were hoping to leave the theater dry-eyed come this June. As Tom Hanks told Ellen on The Ellen Show, Tim Allen actually texted him to see if he had recorded yet, presumably to gauge his reaction. When he found out that he hadnt, he warned Tom Hanks about the scripts last pages, to help prepare his co-star for the films emotional ending.

The fact that the ending was so emotional that Tim Allen felt compelled to see what his co-star thought and then warned him about it means that it must be a doozy. I also like how Tim Allens warning of the ending amounts to Tough one. The terse response is fitting for the actor, and although I expect his diction wildly undersells it, this is probably Tim Allens way of saying that the ending is heart wrenching.

Tom Hanks went on to concur with Tim Allens sentiment once he reached those last pages. Those final recording sessions were particularly emotional, as the actor went on to say:

Were saying goodbye to Woody and Buzz and Bonnies room and Andy and everybody. It was emotional.

Come on, Tom, let us at least go into the theater without tears in our eyes. The way Tom Hanks describes the experience of finishing up the film definitely makes it seem like this could be the final Toy Story movie and the end of the series. That would mean saying goodbye to a series and characters that many of us grew up with and have known for over two decades.

We once thought that Toy Story 3 was the end, and as such that ending was like a punch to the face. If Toy Story 4 is indeed the end or at least feels like it, as it apparently did for Tom Hanks, I expect its ending to be just as brutal.

Of course, as I said, we once thought that Toy Story 3 was the end of the series, even if those at Pixar didnt. Weve heard that the ending of Toy Story 4 would be a satisfying conclusion if it is the final Toy Story film. And given that Toy Story 4 will be Pixars last sequel for a while, it could still feel like the end, even if we find out years from now that its not.
