How Zuri Could Return For Black Panther 2, According To Forest Whitaker

Black Panther introduced several great new characters to us for the MCU, but then it took some of them away. Could we possibly see Forest Whitaker again in the inevitable Black Panther 2? It seems like such a thing isn't entirely outside the realm of possibility, While his character of Zuri was killed by Killmonger, the actor points out that the movie does set up a way for the dead to communicate with the living, so perhaps we could see Zuri again on the ancestral plane. I guess I would be like an Obi-Wan Kenobi, you know, who comes back, he talks from the ancestral plane to give advice to T'Challa. Chadwick's amazing in the film. Ryan Coogler's done such an amazing job, so proud to be in it.

The fact that there will be a Black Panther 2 is a foregone conclusion. The first movie has made a billion dollars around the world and you don't let franchises like that simply sit around. Although, one wonders if the first movie would have said goodbye to the characters that it did if it had been thinking about the future. Zuri, was a sort of surrogate father figure to T'Challa in Black Panther, with the hero having lost his own father during Captain America: Civil War. Unfortunately, T'Challa lost his second father in Black Panther when Zuri tried to get involved in the ritual combat, and was killed by Killmonger.

Exactly what the rules are of the ancestral plane are never clearly defined, but that would give Black Panther 2 some freedom to use it to bring back other deceased characters if it wanted to, as Forest Whitaker implies to ET. The name "ancestral plane" would seem to indicate that you can only speak with your ancestors here, and T'Challa and Zuri were not actually related as far as we know, but if we broaden the concept of an ancestor, then perhaps anybody who had a significant impact on somebody's life can be visited there.

Of course, the other issue with this idea is that we only ever see people visiting the ancestral plane after ingesting the nectar of the flower that gives the strength of the Black Panther, and we saw all of them get burned in the first movie. T'Challa would have to lose, and then regain his powers to find himself on the ancestral plane and not only does that seem unlikely, but we've already seen that play out once. Seeing it in the sequel would probably feel less than creative.

Still, if there's another way for Zuri to show in a Black Panther sequel, I'm all for it. Forest Whitaker is a great actor and any excuse necessary to get him back on the screen is acceptable.

J.K. Rowling Has Apologized Again For Killing Off A Harry Potter Character

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has made it an annual tradition over the last few years in honoring the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts by apologizing for the death of one of her characters. Last year, she said sorry for the death of Snape. This year, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, her apology goes out to the one and only Dobby the House Elf...

As J.K. Rowling notes in her Tweet, Dobby didn't actually die at the Battle of Hogwarts. The free elf never lived long enough to make it there, though he wasn't unrepresented at the famous battle, which ended Voldemort's reign of power. Dobby's death occurred moments after he helped Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna, Ollivander and Griphook escape Malfoy Manor. It was an especially meaningful act, when we take into account that Dobby once resided at the estate, having been owned and enslaved by the Malfoy's prior to being accidentally liberated by Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Upon whisking Harry and Griphook away from the Manor and off to the safety of Shell Cottage, Dobby was struck by a dagger thrown by Bellatrix Lestrange seconds before he disapparated. The stab wound was fatal, but not before Dobby was able to utter two final words: "Harry Potter."

Given Dobby's love and appreciation for Harry, his death was particularly heartbreaking, as were his last words. But he died a hero and a free elf, which is likely how he would have wanted it. Had he not gone to Malfoy Manor on Aberforth Dumbledore's orders, who knows what might've happened to Harry, Ron and Hermione.

While Dobby didn't get to fight at the Battle of Hogwarts, the house elves did play a role in the castle's defense against Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Kreacher, the Black family's house elf, led the charge there.

As we mentioned, this isn't the first apology J.K. Rowling has issued on the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. In 2014, she took a moment of (Twitter) silence to honor the fallen. Then, in 2015, she stated that she decided she would pick a character each year, with Fred Weasley being the first to receive an individual apology from her. In 2016, the shoutout went to Remus Lupin. And in 2017, she whispered an apology for the death of Severus Snape. This year, Dobby joins the list of fallen heroes. And there are quite a few more deaths she's likely considering for future acknowledgements, especially if she's willing to extend beyond those who died at the actual Battle. Sirius Black, Lily and James Potter, Hedwig and Dumbledore come to mind. There are others, including Colin Creevey, Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody and Cedric Diggory who may get a mention someday as well.

This year marks 20 years since the event, by the timeline of the books, which put the Battle in May of 1998. The actual books themselves celebrated their 20th anniversary last year, with the original publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone hitting shelves in 1997. More than two decades later they remain hugely popular among muggle children and adults. And while Rowling may take this day each year to look back at one of the characters she had to write off, the author is also hard at work looking forward at the future (and the past) of the Harry Potter universe, through the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them films, which take us back to the earlier decades of the 20th century to tell the story of Newt Scamander. Chandler Riggs Is Still Bummed About Losing Spider-Man To Tom Holland

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going strong for a decade, and is showing no signs of slowing down. As Phase Three began with Captain America: Civil War, a few new characters were introduced that would quickly become fan favorites: Black Panther and Spider-Man. The latter is played by Tom Holland, but the role was up for grabs once Sony gave Marvel Studios rights to the character.

One of the many actors who went in for the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man was The Walking Dead alumnus Chandler Riggs. Riggs recently retired his role as Carl Grimes, and has been open about going out for the role of the web slinger. Riggs recently revealed he's still disappointed about the casting, saying:

I auditioned for Spider-Man, I thought that would have been cool. But it's okay, it's okay.

The kid's got a point. What is cooler than becoming a Marvel Cinematic Universe right after graduating high school? Alas, Tom Holland got the role, and has already become one of the most beloved figures in the massive cinematic universe.

Chandler Riggs' comments come from his recent appearance at San Jose Fan Fest (via Comic Book), and show how the young actor would have loved to play Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney cast a wide net to find the perfect actor, and Tom Holland's casting has widely been seen as a massive victory for the overall franchise. Unfortunately, this came at the cost of other actors' dreams.

When Disney was searching for the newest version of Peter Parker, the pressure was on. Two other Spider-Man franchises have already hit theaters, with Andrew Garfield's tenure ending only a few years ago. Ultimately, Disney decided to break new ground with a younger actor, allowing Peter to read like a realistic high school student. Chandler Riggs was one of those actors, but Tom Holland ultimately won the role-- with a little help from Chris Hemsworth himself.

In his same appearance, Chandler Riggs praised Tom Holland's performance as Spider-Man, saying:

But Tom Holland, he does such an amazing job as Spider-Man, he's seriously amazing. It's awesome. I watched Homecoming a few weeks ago and he's so funny, and like so perfect for the role, it's really well done.

What a class act. Chandler Riggs might be bummed about not playing Peter Parker, but he can see how great Tom Holland's characterization of the role was. Then again, the 19 year-old actor also revealed that he waited a while to actually sit down and watch Spider-Man: Homecoming. But given how life-changing landing the role would have been, who can blame him?

Tom Holland's Spider-Man will return to the MCU when Avengers: Endgame arrives in theaters on April 26th, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your trips to the movies in the New Year.
