Christina Hendricks Toy Story 4 Character Sounds Super Creepy

For a family-friendly franchise all about the cute, adorable and fluffy toys of our childhood, Toy Story has featured some rather spooky characters. Remember Babyface from Sids room in the first film? What am I talking about, of course you do that characters creepy face is likely singed into the brains of everyone who watched it, especially if you were a kid.

Soon Toy Story 4 will introduce a completely new generation to the emotional damage that comes with being a neglected toy, when Christina Hendricks new character Gabby Gabby debuts on screen. The Mad Men and Good Girls actress will be a vintage 50s doll who comes complete with a heartbreaking backstory and her own army of dolls to scare the children of today into sticking with video games for good. Heres what the movies director Josh Cooley told Entertainment Weekly of the character:

She can just tell her henchmen of ventriloquist dummies to do her bidding for her, and they do. Shes like the Godfather, where she doesnt really have to do much to do a lot.

Did I say Toy Story can be creepy yet because chills. Some of the most powerful villains can just sit back and watch her followers do the dirty work for them, and that looks to be exactly what Gabby Gabby does with the ventriloquist dummies Woody will meet in Toy Story 4. The pull string doll has apparently been collecting dust in an antique store for more than 60 years, and never been held and loved by a child because she was made with a broken voice box.

Because she has a defect in her voice, she sympathizes with the silent ventriloquist dummies and speaks on their behalf. Therefore, they seem to follow her every beck and call without batting an eye. Why did the filmmakers decide to include these eerie dolls in the upcoming Toy Story movie? Josh Cooley said this:

Ive always loved The Twilight Zone and that Talking Tina-type of thing. Weve never seen creepy, old dolls like that in Toy Story, and this was an opportunity to do that.

Gabby Gabby and her ventriloquist army will join some of the other villainous characters in the Toy Story universe such as Prospector, Lotso, Emperor Zurg, Sid and Big Baby. Have no fear, the new Pixar film is also introducing a slew of other new characters who seem a bit more delightful.

Keanu Reeves will play Duke Caboom, a Evel Knievel-type daredevil who will assist Woody and Bo Peep in their mission. Key and Peele will play carnival stuffed animals named Ducky and Bunny and the tiniest toy in the franchise Giggle McDimples will be played by Ally Maki. Toy Story 4 heads to theaters on June 21 on the same day the Childs Play remake will be released. Coincidence? With Gabby Gabby on board, maybe not.

Captain Marvel's Brie Larson And Samuel L. Jackson Tribute Goose The Cat For Love Your Pet Day

Yesterday was National Love Your Pet Day, and while I believe that every day should serve as an unofficial celebration of that days ideals, it does serve as a reminder to give a little extra love to the feathered, scaled and furred members of our families. One cinematic family that celebrated Love Your Pet Day was the cast of Captain Marvel. Take a look below to see Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson give Goose some love.

This tweet from Marvel is pretty funny, coming off as two actors describing what it was like to work with one another and offering superlatives about their co-stars. And while those qualities can certainly describe the actors (Samuel L. Jackson is definitely iconic) in reality, Brie Larson was describing her other co-star, the cat Goose.

Samuel L. Jacksons feelings might be a bit hurt by that, but who can blame Brie Larson? Goose is all of those things and more, a refined feline destined for icon status thanks to his role in Captain Marvel. He looks glorious here too.

Marvel clearly knows that cats sell, and this is another fun and savvy move from the House of Ideas that plays into that. As weve seen, Goose has had an unexpected, but welcome prominence in some of the marketing for Captain Marvel, and recognizing him on Love Your Pet Day is an appropriate way for the film to promote itself that ties in with the celebration.

Although this video from Marvel is mostly a fun bit of marketing, it does appear to show some footage from the film and we see that Goose finds himself in a lot of places. Theres the scene from the end of the second trailer where Nick Fury proves to be a cat lover, but there are also shots of him next to a suited Captain Marvel and in an aircraft with Carol Danvers and Maria Rambeau.

Judging by the early reactions to the film, Goose will be one of the major points of discussion when audiences leave the theater. The word out of the early screenings is that Goose, along with Ben Mendelsohns Talos, steals the show. That means that he isnt just a way to sell the movie, hes actually in it and plays a role.

Hes almost assuredly not a cat at all and is in fact a Flerken as all signs point to, but I would still anticipate that orange cat adoptions and the prevalence of Goose as a pet name both see an uptick after Captain Marvel.

Dakota Johnson recently stated that her role in Suspiria pushed her into therapy, but it seems there's a bit more to the story. While she did apparently speak to a therapist after her role in the new horror film, it seems that this is a somewhat regular occurrence for the actress and not an indication that the new movie caused her to become mentally disturbed in any way. In fact, making the movie was actually a lot of fun. According to Johnson...

It was the most fun and the most exhilarating and the most joyful that it could be. It's mischievous and play[ful] and I love it more than anything. It wasn't that this film sent me to a ward, I just have a lot of feelings.

Dakota Johnson had made comments in the run-up to Suspiria's release that the movie "fucked me up so much that I had to go to therapy." The statement certainly makes it sound like the movie had a negative impact on her emotional state, but it seems there were actually multiple emotions at play during the production.

Dakota Johnson specifically tells EW that her experience filming Suspiria was not traumatic. Quite the opposite. She uses words like "exhilarating," and "joyful," and "fun" to describe filming the movie. It seems that, unsurprisingly, the movie was capable of both being fun to make, and requiring Johnson to talk to somebody about the dark subject matter after the fact. It's the difference between playing the character and being herself. Art is nothing if not versatile.

While the new remake of Suspiria that recently came out is being touted by many as being a truly disturbing and bizarre horror movie, any indication that it caused Dakota Johnson to be disturbed is going too far. While the actress does say here that the dark subject matter of the film did have an impact on her, it was only in a way that has happened to her before because of the way that she inhabits her characters. She just needed to talk herself out of the dark place that character brought her.

First of all, I was not psychoanalyzed and I hope I never will be. I find sometimes when I work on a project and --- I don't have any shame in this --- I'm a very porous person and I absorb a lot of people's feelings. When you're working sometimes with dark subject matter, it can stay with you and then to talk to somebody really nice about it afterwards is a really nice way to move on from the project. My therapist is a really nice woman.

It's actually great to get this clarification from Dakota Johnson. The actress is open and honest about the fact that she has, as needed, spoken with a therapist, and there's no stigma attached. It's a perfectly normal thing that really helps her. It's something that could potentially help a lot of people and seeing it spoken in simple terms could help that happen.

While it is good the movie didn't cause a breakdown, most probably wouldn't have guessed that making Suspiria went quite so far in the other direction. It's not difficult to see why some might have assumed that it was a harrowing experience. Being in the movie may not be traumatic, but watching surely was for some. Suspiria is meant to be visually and emotionally disturbing and by most accounts, the film succeeds.

The music in A Star is Born acts like a separate character. The songs written by Ally (played by Lady Gaga) mesh with the established musical career of Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper, who also directs), and it gives their fledgling romantic relationship a foundation on which to build... even if it will lead to discontent before all is said and dine. What's miraculous about A Star Is Born, though, is that it covers a wide range of musical genres, even though it's focused on two singers, so when CinemaBlend sat down across from Cooper and Lady Gaga to discuss this film, we talked about how they made sure the musical stylings worked in tandem, and Cooper told us:

It's part of the journey. It's part of the journey that we wanted to tell about being an artist. It's wayward. And especially through Ally's eyes. We see her singing covers at the beginning, and then she navigated towards Jackson's world. And she's creating, autonomously, within Jackson's world. But that's not all she... it's also about how expansive one's talent can be if you can dream that big. And Ally at the end of the movie is just starting. What she's going to create is going to be even larger than what we've seen prior.

Both characters in A Star is Born go through life-altering transitions. Ally (Lady Gaga), to give an example, is plucked from obscurity -- she works a thankless waitressing job while singing cover songs at a drag club -- because Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper) recognizes her ability as a singer/songwriter. Her journey is emotional, and when Lady Gaga elaborated in Cooper's answer to us, she explained:

You know, when we crafted the soundtrack, for this film together, it really, in a way, all stemmed from Jackson's sound. When she meets him, and they fall in love, and he takes her on this journey to go on the road with him, she's singing her own songs but she's growing with him and she's with his band. ... We crafted the music so that you would see an arc to the journey. You would see, 'This is her singing a cover, this is Bradley's music, this is Jackson's sound, this is a Jackson-and-Ally together [song], this is Ally when she's with Jackson...' And then you see everything starts to pivot.

Where will it pivot? Those of you who have seen the previous versions of A Star is Born will know. Even if you do know, though, you will connect with the performances in Bradley Cooper's directorial debut more than you ever did in a previous version. Here, hear it from Cooper and Gaga, themselves:
