The Time Sylvester Stallone Rewrote The Expendables To Keep Terry Crews In

The Expendables franchise included some of the greatest action movie stars of the last 40 years or so. There were so many of them, however, that they don't all get a chance to shine the way they all might have liked. It turns out that Terry Crews' role in the original film was not going to be a very big part, but writer and director Sylvester Stallone loved Crews' performance so much, he changed the movie to give the actor a bigger, and more important role. According to Crews...

When I was on that movie, I wasn't getting a lot of light and they kept changing the script and I just kept disappearing. I was like, 'You know what, I'm gonna mail it in. I'm gonna say my lines and go home. I wanna get out of here.' And something told me, like, 'Terry, this is an opportunity of a lifetime. You have this chance to make history. You've got to just shine no matter what.' And I went 'You know what, you're right.' And I went to work and I said my two lines, three lines, and I said it with all the gusto I could say. And all of a sudden, Sly's like [breaks out extreme Sylvester Stallone impression]:, 'You know what, I like that. Wait a second right here. Wait a second right here. I'm gonna change the movie!' And he rewrote the movie.

So let that be a lesson to us all. You should always give your all to every job you do, even if you don't think it's worth it. It might not always pay off, but sometimes it does.

In the case of Terry Crews, even though he was frustrated with a small role in The Expendables and his first inclination was to simply phone in the part and get it done, he ultimately decided not to do that. As a result, he impressed the boss to the point that he was given much more to do. Crews tells EW that Stallone changed the script so that Crews' character, whose name was Hale Caeser (let's all just enjoy that for a moment) was the one who rescued him in the film. Also, at least one scene that was never in the script was added on the set to give Crews more to do.

It probably also led to additional work for Terry Crews. If the character had only ever had a couple of lines in the first film, it's possible he might have been dropped entirely when it came time for Expendables sequels, but Crews returned for those as well.

A fourth installment of the Expendables franchise is expected to shoot this year. Most of the cast has not been confirmed, though the word is Terry Crews won't be back, though for unfortunate reasons. Still, he seems to have fond memories of the movies, so we'll see what happens.

MAJOR spoilers ahead for Deadpool 2. If you haven't seen it in theaters, look away!

After two years of waiting, Deadpool 2 has finally arrived in theaters. The superheroic sequel features Wade Wilson in yet another fourth wall breaking adventure, and it greatly expanded the scope of the franchise. Deadpool 2 was chock full of shocking moments, although there was none quite as brutal as Vanessa's death in the film's first act. It was shocking and brutal, and revealed that the sequel was going to have some very real stakes. But the post-credits scene saw Deadpool going back in time for a few reasons, the first of which is saving Vanessa's life. So is she really alive, or was this just a joke? Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick recently answered just this, saying:

Yes, the after credit scene is CANON! Don't expect that device to stick around beyond this movie, though!

It looks like Deadpool 2's post-credits scene wasn't just a final gag for the audience. Wade actually traveled through time, and saved Vanessa from being killed on their anniversary. And just like that, one of the franchise's leading characters is reborn.

This definitive answer comes from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick's recent Reddit AMA. The writers fielded a variety of questions about Deadpool 2, including some more nit picky ones related to the franchise's official canon. While Vanessa's death seemed legitimate and possibly an opening for Zazie Beetz' Domino to begin a romantic plot line with the protagonist, we should probably expect Morena Baccarin to reprise her role in the X-Force movie.

Vanessa's resurrection means that almost all of the character deaths in Deadpool don't really matter. The title character seemingly died in the film's conclusion, ready to reunite with his true love in the afterlife. But Vanessa told him it wasn't the right time, and he eventually returned to the world of the living. Now it seems she was right, as their true reunion happened via Wade traveling back in time to save her life. The couple can presumably keep living their happy life, and start having kids.

Aside from Vanessa and Wade's returns from the dead, there is one more character who got out alive: X-Force member Peter. Most of the team perishes after jumping from a helicopter, and Peter was one of the members who died gruesomely in front of our eyes. During the post-credits scene, Wade is also sure to save him, as the poor guy probably shouldn't have been involved in the first place. As for the rest of the OG X-Force? They're probably dead for good.

There are few franchises as beloved as the eight Harry Potter films starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. Along with propelling the trio of young actors into stardom, the franchise featured tons of veteran actors as famed characters from J.K. Rowling's imaginative Wizarding World.

One of these actors include Miriam Margolyes' appearance as Professor Pomona Sprout in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Deathly Hallows Part 2. The 77-year-old actress is also well known for her voice work in family films as Fly in 1995's Babe, the Matchmaker in Disney's Mulan and Aunt Sponge in James and the Giant Peach. So, her following opinions on kids might confuse you:

I don't like children. I don't want to be with children. I wish them well. I genuinely do. I'd kill anyone who hurt a child, but I just don't want them near me!

Miriam Margolyes was asked about her dislike of children on the Australian talk show The Project (via Daily Mail). The show's host Lisa Wilkinson prodded as to why, she responded jokingly with "they make noise and take attention from me."

It's a surprising bit of information to learn about the family-friendly actress, but not all talents' work aligns directly with their specific interests.

The actress is however no stranger to offering peculiar quotes that quickly go viral. When asked in 2017 if she was planning to see the London stage play by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, she fired back with "of course not!", expressing her lack of interest in the franchise anymore, and asking the interviewer what the matter was with them.

So, even though the talented actress was involved in the franchise as the Head of Hufflepuff and the Herbology department at Hogwarts, don't count in Miriam Margolyes to geek out about much related to the franchise.

What's ironic about Miriam Margolyes' character in the franchise is that she's rather pleasant and cheerful to the children, especially compared to say Snape or McGonagall. The character didn't get too much screen time in comparison to the other professors much because she aligns with Hufflepuff, a house largely underrepresented in the films to bring focus on Gryffindor and Slytherin.

Since the Harry Potter films have come and gone, the current focus is on how the Fantastic Beasts will play out. Since the films have started to tell of the roots of Hogwarts, with Jude Law as Dumbledore for example, Miriam Margolyes' character of Professor Sprout could potentially show up as a young woman? Don't expect the actress to be happy about it though.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, this is far from the case, and in fact, part of the reshoots was to add a "secret" cameo. In the report, it is revealed that "Deadpool 2" did, in fact, have reshoots last month, but they only shot for six days, which is three less than they did for the original " Deadpool " reshoots.
